Presidency does not rotate, says Obi

Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has lambasted All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu, saying Nigeria's presidency is not 'turn based'.

Speaking on Monday upon his arrival in Delta State for his campaign, the former governor of Anambra State explained that if the presidency were to take turns, it would be his "turn "succeeding the President, Major General Buhari (Retired), this year.

"Someone said it's his turn to be president, I want to tell you that the president is not taking turns. If it's taking turns, it's supposed to be my turn but we don't use turn by turn. It's Nigerians' turn to be president especially those who are full of energy.

"No tribe buys cheaper bread or rice, no religion buys cheaper bread. Vote for commitment and ability.

"We are not going to make excuses. I am not going to remind you where you came from or blame people where they have failed. I assure you that a new Nigeria is possible.

“Hold me responsible if we fail you on security, on the economy. We will make the country work again. There will be no more strikes in the education sector in this country,” Obi said.

The former governor also lamented that the Niger Delta region is lagging behind judging by the resources allocated to it. He promised to transform the region if elected president.

He said, "We went to Warri, Isoko, Agbor and Asaba just today, it shows you our seriousness and commitment, and all the places, people came in droves.

“Niger Delta supposed to be a refuge, it does not work in the region. From here to Warri is supposed to be dualized. The East-East road has been built for the past 24 years, but nothing works in this area. »
