Prince Filip Karađorđević, known as Philip Karageorgevich in English, has quelled rumors that an Arab country will “soon” adopt Bitcoin (BTC) as legal tender. In an interview Philip gave from Serbia, the prince explained that the adoption of Bitcoin is a fatality for all countries.

Following the thesis he first shared on a Bitcoin Reserves podcast, some outlets jumped on the comments. Headlines that an Arab country would soon adopt Bitcoin quickly spread. However, as a bitcoin advocate, Philip explained that bitcoin adoption is, in fact, inevitable for all countries and not just Arab states:

"It's definitely going to happen. But I don't know what country or who's going to do it where or something like that, but it has to happen. Every country will eventually adopt Bitcoin."

The prince shared that Bitcoin is a great choice for Muslim countries because “it makes perfect sharia money.” Islamic law, known as Sharia, is based on the teachings of the Quran and dictates whether something is permissible (halal) or illegal (haram). In the case of money, Philip would say that Bitcoin is, in fact, halal and a perfect form of Islamic finance:

"It's only a matter of time before a Muslim country that follows Sharia has to adopt it. Some people are grabbing it and selling it, saying that of course, if a prince knows it, that an Arab or Muslim country will soon adopt Bitcoin, then it will happen."
