PVC: Declare holidays – Ohanaeze tells Southeast Governors

Worried about the low collection of cards from permanent voters, PVC, in the Southeast, an umbrella socio-cultural Igbo organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo has urged governors in the Southeast to declare public holidays.

The call was contained in a statement made available to DAILY POST by Mazi Okechukwu Isiguzoro, Secretary General, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

He said strict strategies should be put in place to compel the Igbos to collect their PVCs.

Isiguzoro said, "Southeast governors should organize mobilization strategies and sensitization campaigns through ward-level party leaders and elected or appointed councilors before the expiration date of the January 29, 2023.

"Ohanaeze Ndigbo urges South East Governors to put in place strict regulations to ensure that all Igbo parents must present their PVCs before enrolling their children in schools and that not all workers should earn their salary without showing their PVC.

"We are calling on state governors to declare non-working days and holidays so officials and officials can pick up their PVCs."

He added that traders should also be required to show their PVCs before gaining access to markets.

He advised that “Ndigbo should not let this opportunity pass without doing the necessary.

“This is a wake-up call to all eligible Igbo voters across the country to get up and collect their PVCs wherever they are.

"We are working with governors to ensure uncollected PVCs reach homeowners ahead of the election and are prepared to take additional steps through special arrangements to ensure PVCs are shared with all voters. eligible in the 95 South East LGAs.”
