Ramadan: Kano police declare war on illicit drugs and social vices and arrest 14 suspects

Kano State Police have declared war on illicit drugs and other social vices, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.

Kano State Spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa said so in a statement to the DAILY POST.

He said the arrest was part of the command's efforts to eradicate all forms of crime and criminality, especially the threat of violence (Daba), drug addiction (Kwaya) and other social vices in the state.

He explained that this decision is in line with the directives of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, on community policing, 24-hour visibility patrols and Operation Restore Peace.

He said that based on this decision, CP Mamman Dauda of Kano State declared an all-out war against all forms of violence, illicit drugs and other forms of social opinion, in especially during Ramadan.

According to him, "Fourteen suspects were arrested for alleged criminal activities and other social vices."

The commissioner further warns that anyone found in possession of a weapon or illicit drugs during the fasting period of Ramadan and beyond will be arrested and punished according to law.

CP. Mamman further called on all criminals to repent or leave the state altogether. Otherwise, they will be arrested and face the wrath of the law.

He thanked the brave people of Kano State for their prayers, continued support, understanding, encouragement and cooperation.

Fasting in the month of Ramadan is one of the five pillars of Islam, and a Muslim must refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, and other social vices until sunset.< /p>
