Jane Fonda, 84, announced on September 2 that she had lymphatic cancer and was well through her chemotherapy treatments. “This is a very treatable cancer. 80% of people survive, so I feel very lucky,” she wrote, showing some optimism. "I'm also lucky because I have health insurance and I have access to the best doctors and treatments. I realize, and it's painful, that I'm privileged in this. Almost every family in America have had to deal with cancer at one time or another and far too many people don't have access to the quality health care I receive and that's not fair."

She then wrote about the lessons she learned from battling cancer. “One thing it has already shown me is the importance of community. To grow and deepen your community so that you are not alone. importance of adapting to new realities,” she said.
