Clement Idoko

Lagos State Assemblyman, Moshood Oshun, representing Lagos Mainland II, called on students, especially in Lagos Mainland, to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, during the Saturday presidential election.

He also sought the support of all other candidates running for the 2023 general election under the APC platform.

Oshun made the call when he welcomed student union leaders from the four institutions of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Federal College of Education (Technical) and from Lagos State College of Health Technology on Thursdays in Lagos.

He is also a candidate for Federal House Representative, having won the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary for Lagos Mainland.

Oshun noted that Tinubu has everything it takes to pull Nigeria out of the woods, saying that once elected president, he will prioritize education and student welfare.

He also promised to consider student demand for expedited action on YABATECH's proposed upgrade to university status, saying it was long overdue.

Student leaders who were happy to meet him made a request among which was the request made by the President of the Faculty of Education, Comrade Emmanuel Oladeji, asking for an interactive session with the student community at least twice a year.

Comrade Majaro Temitope, president of the student union of YABATECH, reminded the lawmaker of the severe agitation that the Yaba College of Technology should be transformed into a full-fledged university of technology.

In his remarks, a former student leader, Comrade Sanusi Sulaimon who was the organizer of the meeting, also appreciated Hon. Oshun's gesture, especially for his many interventions during his stay in the Lagos State Legislative Assembly.

He expressed optimism that Oshun will do more when he moves to the National Assembly and thinks the confidence in him will make him do more when he moves to the National Assembly.

Student leaders have promised to work with him in his manifestos to ensure that the student community is not left behind.

They also promised to mobilize some of their colleagues who enrolled on campus or stayed on the premises of the establishment (off campus). That discussions are underway to ensure their numbers galvanize votes for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

A closing remark from a former fellow student leader Baale also charged students whose institutions are doing well will be appreciated.
