According to PUNCH Metro's investigations, the worst affected areas included the grassroots community of Ginuwa in Warri South Local Government Area as well as some streets in Oduma Layout, off Okpe New Road, Old Cranefield Road and Red Beret Police Road including parts of Jeddo, Ughoton, Ugbokodo and other nearby communities in Okpe Local Government Area in Delta State. p>

Therefore, many residents of the affected areas lament the devastation inflicted on them by the floods in the localities which they attribute mainly to poor drainage systems.

In their submissions, affected residents of Jeddo, Ughoton, Ugbokodo and the main metropolis of Warri accused the Delta State government of being adamant about previous flood warnings from different relevant federal government agencies , including the Nigerian Environment Management Agency, Hydrological Services of Nigeria. They urge the state government to intervene immediately by coming to the aid of flood victims and evacuating people living in flood-prone areas across the state.

Commenting on the incident, Odume Layout Residents Association Chairman Osuogu called on the Delta State Government and other interventionist agencies to come to their aid by constructing roads to access in the streets adjacent to the New Okpe road as well as building larger drainages in the locality to pave the way for easy flow of water to the drains.
