Results visualization portal now working, ready for government polls – INEC

The Independent National Electoral Commission has given the assurance that its results visualization portal, which suffered problems during the presidential and National Assembly elections, is now operational.

He said the IReV portal will be rolled out during Saturday's gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections.

The INEC President's chief press officer, Rotimi Oyekanmi, said so in an interview with our correspondent on Sunday.

INEC has received backlash from political parties, observers, individuals and various interest groups for not uploading polling station results to the portal before collection.

Some political parties and individuals had relied on the glitch to demand the cancellation of the results.

Meanwhile, checks carried out by our correspondent on Sunday revealed that INEC has so far downloaded 161,624 results from 176,846 polling stations, eight days after the presidential poll.< /p>

This figure represents 92% of the results of all voting units.

At the time of filing this report, the electronic transmission of results was still in progress.

Nigerians were expecting the election results to be uploaded on Election Day as promised by INEC Chairman Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.

However, INEC has been criticized for its inability to upload results to its viewing portal, which led to some party agents walking out of the National Collation Center on Monday.

Checks made by our correspondent on Sunday revealed that the results of all voting units had not yet been uploaded to the INEC website.

According to the commission, BolaTinubu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress in power, won 8.8 million votes, while the main opposition candidates, Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, obtained respectively 6.9 million and 6.1 million votes.

Speaking on the issue, Oyekanmi said, "The technical issues that affected him on February 25 have now been resolved. He will be deployed for the gubernatorial and presidential elections. National Assembly scheduled for March 11."

On appeals to the INEC to annul the election, Oyekanmi said: "Aggrieved parties have the right and opportunity to raise their grievances at the Electoral Petitions Tribunal if they are not satisfied with the result of an election So far, in the case of the presidential election which has just ended, two political parties have openly rejected the result and have already indicated their intention to do exactly that: go to court."
