Richard Keys threatens BBC presenter Gabby Logan with legal action over allegations in her book

Richard Keys has said he intends to take legal action against Gabby Logan over claims in his book that he and Andy Gray joked about refusing to have sex with pregnant women in her presence while she was expecting twins. Logan recounted a flight she took to Istanbul for the Champions League final in 2005 in her memoir, serialized by .

The broadcaster was covering the game for ITV and sat in the row behind Keys and Gray on the plane to Turkey before the game. She went on to say she was "embarrassed" after overhearing a conversation between the two in which they were discussing the subject of sleeping with pregnant women.

“I was seven months pregnant with twins, and I was huge, looked like I swallowed a space hopper,” Logan wrote. She went on to claim that the comments in question were kept by Keys within earshot of herself and other nearby passengers.

"I was embarrassed, of course, and found their comments particularly cruel, knowing that they both had children and wives," she added.

Keys responded to Logan's claims, which he called "grossly inaccurate," with a Saturday night pledge in which he pledged to take legal action over the matter.

He said: "In reference to an article published by The Mail on Sunday written by Ms Gabby Logan. Ms Logan has made a number of wildly inaccurate allegations in the process of defaming my reputation.

"I have referred the matter to attorneys to pursue a defamation action."

Keys and Gray were hired by beIN Sports in 2013 to host their coverage of the Premier League and European football, two years after leaving Sky Sports following a scandal over derogatory comments about the judge line Sian Massey and other clips of the pair making sexist comments off-air. Keys apologized at the time, saying, "Our prehistoric jokes are not acceptable in a modern world. We were wrong. That was wrong.

"This shouldn't have happened. Hopefully this will start the recovery process and now everyone can step back and understand that, you know, these rude, optimistic guys understand the magnitude of this happened."
