The teenage girls, aged between 16 and 18, were lured from Benin City, Edo State, by their friend in conjunction with a man believed to be her brother, who helped her find a job as a saleswoman. , says a statement released this weekend.

“Three teenage girls aged between 16 and 18 were rescued from a human trafficking ring operating around Oto Awori LCDA, Lagos State by agents of the Lagos State Neighborhood Safety Agency.

"The three girls, from Benin, Edo State, were lured to their friend in concert with a man believed to be her brother who promised to help them find a job as a saleswoman.< /p>

"Upon arrival in Lagos, the gang housed the girls in inhumane conditions on the outskirts of Lagos with the intention of transferring them to other gang members who would take them to Mali or in Ghana for prostitution.< /p>

"The girls, however, stumbled upon the phone conversation of the male member who had previously housed them in the slum and then fled through a bush path.

"A Good Samaritan who saw them wandering around directed them to two LNSC officers who in turn rescued them in haste to Oto Awori Command where they recounted their ordeal" , says the press release.

He added that the rescued teenagers have since been transferred to the National Agency for the Prevention of Human Trafficking for further investigation.
