Former FTX boss Sam Bankman-Fried will likely remain behind bars until his trial begins Oct. 3, after a U.S. District Court judge denied his request for release temporary.

On September 12, District Judge Lewis Kaplan rejected Bankman-Fried's claim that his preparation for trial was hampered by poor Internet access in prison, ruling that it was not grounds sufficient to grant his release.

"The defendant has made no detailed showing as to the specific documents he claims he was unable to access personally and why such personal inability would hamper his defense," Kaplan explained.

Kaplan added that Bankman-Fried's lawyers can provide her with documents to review on a hard drive to bypass a potentially unreliable Internet connection.

"There is no indication that Counsel is incapable of performing the searches in the Relativity or AWS databases that Defendant might desire and then providing Defendant with the results."

Bankman-Fried's lawyer previously complained about the prison's poor Internet connection in a September 8 letter, explaining that they often had to wait up to 10 minutes for the home page to appear. 'a website is loading.
