According to him, his mother had just told him that the Governor of Lagos was his father.

Making the claims while speaking with reporters at the Delta 2 State High Court sitting in Effurun, Uvwie Local Government Area of the Delta on Tuesday, Emmanuel, who claimed that his mother was from Oleri community in Udu Local Government Area, maintained that her mother had only him for Sanwo-Olu before marrying another man for whom she had other children.

"I am 100% sure that I am Governor Sanwo-Olu's son," the young man insisted, saying, "I just want to see this man, sir, like my father."

Emmanuel, who told reporters he worked "odd jobs" to survive with his wife and three children, said that in the past 27 years he had not seen his father.< /p>

Emmanuel's lawyer, John Aikpokpo-Martins, also told reporters that the plaintiff was his client in a case in which the Governor of Lagos State is a defendant, which was heard in court earlier in the day.

In lawsuit no.: EHC/148/2022 between Emmanuel Moses Sanwo-Olu and Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the plaintiff claimed that he was the marital product of a pleasant relationship that existed between his mother, Grace Moses , and the defendant in 1994/95.

Also in his writ of summons issued by J. O. Aikpokpo-Martins, Esq., the plaintiff asks the court the following:

“A statement that the defendant is the biological father of the plaintiff from Mrs. Grace Moses of Oleri, Delta State.

“An order directing and compelling the defendant to recognize and grant to the plaintiff all rights of a son in accordance with all applicable laws, whether customary, statutory or constitutional.

"A perpetual injunctive order restraining the defendant from further denying the plaintiff's paternity."

The plaintiff, in the 19-paragraph statement attached to the writ, claimed that Governor Sanwo-Olu was a staff member of a private company operating in and around Warri in Delta State from 1994 to 1995 , and in the course of working and living in Warri at that time, he had a romantic relationship with a girl known as Grace Moses from the village of Oleri near the metropolis of Warri in Delta State, between 1994 and 1995.

He alleged that the said Grace Moses eventually became pregnant with Sanwo-Olu in 1994 with the knowledge of the defendant and without any form of recrimination on his part, adding that shortly thereafter the defendant left Warri and Grace Moses eventually lost contact with him to this day.

Aikpokpo-Martins revealed that he previously filed a motion to have the case struck out on the grounds that the governor was unwilling to waive his immunity, but quickly added that he had also filed a motion to dismiss the case. order for the governor to waive his immunity to come and do a DNA test.

He said: "We expect him (the governor) to do so if, indeed, he is sure that he is not the father of the plaintiff.

"But unfortunately, he invoked his immunity to say that he is immune from prosecution and that he is not ready to cancel it.

"Thereupon they filed a motion that the court not hear the case and that the court strike out the case."

The attorney, however, begged Governor Sanwo-Olu to validate his client's paternity saying, "nothing more."

"By the next rescheduled date, which is January 17, let's see if morally we can appeal to our conscience, or show up for a DNA test with Emmanuel. He doesn't need to be in the press. It can be done quietly. Nobody really wants to make a fuss with it but it has actually proven extremely difficult to scientifically verify with the applicant.

"If it happens that Emmanuel is not his son, he goes home. It's a very simple thing. But if it is his, then the young man will be happy that at least he know where he came from. At that time, he now has the power and authority to enter the Sanwo-Olu family as a family member."

Aikpokpo-Martins said Emmanuel needed his father's validation to say "he is my son", so the Sanwo-Olu family could accept him, pointing out that validation is pending as the court cannot force the governor to go for a DNA test.

"The only option left is to wait four more years when he leaves. Let's say almost five years when he leaves office. But who knows what can happen in five years? the lawyer submitted.< /p>
