Sky Up Tech grants support young people
Sky has announced the launch of its new Sky Up Tech grants, designed to support young people, and the company is investing £220,000 in the scheme. This is part of Sky's £10million fund to tackle digital inequality.
This new initiative is designed to help young people aged 16 to 25 to live independently after leaving the care system.
Youth who benefit from this scheme will get 18 months of free Sky Broadband, a technology bundle that will include a laptop, backpack, software and an active digital pen. They will also have access to special events focusing on skills, well-being and careers.
Sky today announces the rollout of its Sky Up Tech Grants initiative with an investment of £220,000 to provide young people with the equipment and connections needed to go online.
The initiative specifically aims to help young people between the ages of 16 and 25 to live independently after leaving the care system. It's part of Sky's ambitious aim to tackle digital inequality and provide support for a quarter of a million digitally excluded people through a £10m fund.
Through its Sky Up Tech grants, Sky aims to support thousands of young people leaving care by providing individual grants that include a personal technology device preloaded with relevant software, an internet connection via Sky and access to vocational training.
