The smart bedside mat won't let you snooze your alarm

There's one thing we can agree on: more sleep is better. None of us wants to wake up, which makes that snooze button so tempting. This leads to the inevitable cycle of hitting the snooze button over and over again until you suddenly find yourself left behind for work or your kid's back-to-school time. Many people have tried to find solutions to this problem over the years, but we love the Arpan Mondal Smart Wake-Up Mat.

This is a small mat designed to sit next to the user's bed. When the alarm goes off in the morning, the user should get out of bed and stand on this mat for five to 10 seconds. Until they do, the alarm will continue to ring. Snooze is not an option here and the simple act of getting out of bed and getting up should be enough for most people to shake off sleep, ensuring they won't fall back asleep. Best of all, it's affordable and easy to build.

The clock is an Arduino Uno board, which has built-in timing accurate enough for an application like this - although it will drift eventually without the use of an RTC (Time Clock) module. real). The alarm sounds through a piezo buzzer. Instead of an expensive and finicky load cell, the Smart Wake-Up Mat uses a custom sensor. It's basically a big aluminum foil button sandwiched between sheets of cardboard. A mat of the user's choice covers this. When the user steps on the mat, he lowers the sheet so that it comes into contact with a wire, thus completing the circuit.

If you have trouble getting up in the morning, this is a great solution.
