Sportmax RTW Spring 2023

In the space of a few seasons, the design studio behind Sportmax has elevated it to the rank of playground for experimentation.

This season's theme was based on a long-debated psychological question: do shapes have sound? And what about the opposite?

Scientists say so, hence the collection's raver-inspired theme channeled into dualities dissonances of psychedelia and couture, of soft and hard edges, of chaos and serendipity – the last two terms spelled out on T-shirts.

What seemed like an attempt to build a theme around clothing ended up making sense as and as the show progressed, unfolding like a daring play of proportions.

Second-skin stretch tops paired with neon satin column dresses and psychedelic heart-shaped prints and flower covered in second-skin catsuits with a cape trailing down the catwalk as if for a trippy red carpet look.

A little too experimental even in the context of Every-Rule-is-turned-upside- down Generally, a column brocade strapless dress and a spiked bra top came across as awkward.

Even 90s partiers with a fashion flair can take a faux pas.
