Switzerland on VERY cheap: Inside Zurich's capsule hotel with plywood bedrooms for £41 a night

Switzerland at VERY cheap: inside Zurich 'capsule' hotel which offers £41 a night plywood boxes for rooms - so not for the claustrophobic (but they have fancy Egyptian linen ) Carlton Reid stayed at The Green Marmot capsule hotel near Zurich's glorious Grossmunster ChurchEach "capsule" bed contains a folding wooden table, circular mirror and power outletThe hotel has snack vending machines and hot drinks, but there is no other food, Carlton reveals Advertisement

Zurich is an expensive city, where lavish hotels that normally charge an arm and a leg cost at least one additional member. But who needs plush when you don't have body parts to spare and, like me, you're just passing through?

I opted for a budget "capsule" hotel, a short walk from the Swiss town's glorious Grossmunster Church.

The Green Marmot capsule hotel has won awards for its cozy cubicles. Crafted from light birch wood, each pod contains a fold-out wooden table, circular mirror, and power outlet. There is also a duvet and organic Egyptian cotton sheets on top of a thick mattress.

Carlton Reid checked into the Green Marmot capsule hotel in Zurich , his room (above left) costing just £43.72 for the night The capsules are stacked two high. Carlton observes:
