I got it bumped for a week and they kindly gave me a new nickname: "Dusty Martin", which is an Australian Rules Football (AFL) player famous for what we call a "Don't Argue", where you put your palm in an opponent's chest and push them away.

I played a lot of soccer when I was a kid , I grew up wanting to play in the AFL, but I can say that this incident was not me trying to use those skills.

I want to clarify that this was not a conscious effort on my part to push Woody and prevent him from taking the hold.

I had no idea what happened until I quit the playground and my teammate Kane Richardson told me I pushed him [Wood].

I immediately said 'no I didn't' but when I saw the pictures I too said I didn't look good at all.

What's important to understand is how fast this happens. Woody threw a bouncer at me and it hit me in the head at 150 km/h (93 mph).

I didn't I didn't know where the ball was and saw the defenders rushing. I subconsciously had a protective instinct to fend off this person running full blast at me, then my next thought was, "get back in your fold!"

It all happened in seconds.

If I felt like I made a deliberate effort to push it away, I'd be disappointed in myself, but I don't think I did.

However, after seeing it again, if England had appealed, I would have left the ground - I have no argument or denial.

I certainly didn't make a conscious effort to dismiss Wood.

This 'incident' allowed some role reversal. This gave my teammates their chance to get revenge on me - to give me some "stick" for once.

We all have very clear roles, on and off the pitch. Off the pitch my role is probably a team joker, I give a lot and some would say I'm relentless.

People might think I'm stern, a bit grumpy, or serious all the time. I was definitely brash when I was younger, and found that label hard to shake.

But I take my stop...
