Taraba governor loses senatorial elections by wide margin

Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku lost the senatorial elections for Taraba South.

He lost the election to opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate David Jimkuta.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Monday announced the election results in Wukari Local Government Area – the senatorial seat of Taraba South Zone.

INEC's returning officer for the election, Solomon Adeyeye, a professor, said Mr Jimkuta garnered 85,415 votes to defeat the incumbent governor and PDP candidate who garnered 45,708 votes.< /p>

The governor who is completing his second term was defeated by a margin of 39,707 votes.

Meanwhile, INEC announced that Shu'aibu Isa was the winner of the senatorial contest for Taraba North District.

Mr Isa, a PDP candidate obtained 74,645 votes, to beat his opponent from the All Progressives Congress, Sani Danadi who obtained 61,878 votes.

The official result of the senatorial contest in the central area of ​​Taraba between the Deputy State Governor, Haruna Manu of the PDP and Marafa Abba of the APC has not yet been announced.
