The 1975 replaces Rage Against the Machine at the Reading and Leeds festivals

The 1975 will headline Reading and Leeds festivals after Rage Against The Machin withdraws e due to a medical issue i involving their frontman.

The US band canceled their European tour on Thursday, two weeks before they headlined both festivals British and to play in Edinburgh.

A statement says Zack de la Rocha was following "medical advice".

This I won't specify the medical issue, but the 52-year-old singer injured his leg on stage in Chicago in July.

The 1975, consisting of Matty Healy, George Daniel, Adam Hann and Ross MacDonald, have not performed live in the UK since 2020.

The band, who last played Reading and Leeds in 2019, previously canceled their 2021 gig dates due to uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus pandemic.

All four 1975 albums reached number one in the UK. Their fifth is due out later this year.
