The 1975 headlined at Festiva l from Leeds, replacing Rage Agains t the Machine, after second headliner Halsey remained ill.

Matty Healy's band stepped in on two weeks' notice, causing much debate, thanks to Zack De La Rocha's leg injury.

Earlier Halsey had to do a halfway break, revealing she had been suffering from food poisoning all day,

She blasted her set and covered the resurrection of Kate Bush , Running Up That Hill (A Deal with God).

In suits and cigarettes in hand, Healy and company did not seem fazed, and greeted by high-pitched screams, they blasted their way through a series of confident and skillful 'bangers' from their four UK number one albums.

Their set included their Brit Award 2018 LP Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships, and gave a first look at material from their forthcoming album Being Funny in a Foreign Language.

"We weren't even supposed to be here"

"I'm sorry, we're not Rage Against the Machine," Healy told the crowd. "But who is Rage Against the Machine? Ditch it for the best rock band of the previous generation."

Adding jokingly: "But being in Rage Against the Machine and having a kid leg is pretty funny."

"We're the 1975s and we're just gonna be the 1975s as much as we can" he continued.

"We weren't even supposed to be here...let's have a good time."

The band previously headlined the doubleheader August Bank Holiday, which ties into its sister event in Reading, in 2019.
