The studio said that the decision to abandon the game had been made. after it became clear that resources would have to be committed "for years to come", to the detriment of future single-player games.
Naughty Dog stated that it was faced with two options: "become a live-action-only game studio or continue to focus on the single-player narrative games that defined Naughty Dog's legacy." He chose the second option.
