This Week in Security: iOS, OpenSSL, and SQLite
Earlier this week, a new version of iOS was rolled out, fixing some security issues. One in particular noted that it "may have been actively exploited" and was reported anonymously. This usually means that a vulnerability has been discovered in the wild, used in an active campaign. Anonymous credit is also interesting. An educated guess says it was a pretty targeted attack, and the security company that discovered it doesn't want to divulge too much information.
Other interest is the GPU-related fix, credited to [Asahi Lina], the VTuber working on porting Linux to the Apple M1/M2 platform, and focusing particularly on GPU drivers. This is an interesting case and she does a very impressive job. There remains the unanswered question of how the Linux kernel will handle a pull request from a pseudonym. Either way, update your iOS devices.
