Thomas Adewumi University set to reposition STEM - Chancellor

The Chancellor of Thomas Adewumi University, Kwara State, Dr. Johnson Adewumi said the university will reposition science, technology, engineering and mathematics in the higher education system.

He said so in a statement announcing the appointment of a new vice-chancellor, Professor Francisca Oladipo, whom he described as an excellent computer scientist.

He said the appointment was announced by the Council, following a unanimous vote in favor of the excellent researcher and administrator.

Adewumi revealed that Francisca supports the dream of the student-centered university, adding that she is the ideal candidate to take the institution to the next phase of its development.

“She identifies with our vision and is ready to implement our mission. The founding fathers of the university are excited about this appointment and look forward to seeing the global impact of having Francisca at the helm. »

Oldipo said, "I am committed to providing exceptional academic leadership and promoting excellence in teaching and research. The goal is to position Thomas Adewumi University as a world-class academic center that helps staff and students conduct cutting-edge teaching and learning as well as research that solves the problems of our society. »

The statement added: "Oladipo will assume this position from the Federal University of Lokoja, where she currently serves as Director of Quality Assurance and Head of the IT Department. She coordinates also the FUL-RWEYDF Center for ICT for Development and Training, a partnership project between the Federal University of Lokoja and the Foundation for Rural Women Empowerment and Youth Development.

She has over two decades of experience in academic leadership and research and previously served as Director of Research, Innovations and International Relations at Kampala International University, in Uganda, and taught at Nnamdi Azikiwe University in Awka, Nigeria.' '
