Threads, Instagram microblogging platform

Threads is making a big change as it continues to grow exponentially as an alternative to . Instagram boss Adam Mosseri has taken to the microblogging platform to announce that they will be implementing bitrate limits to combat bots.

"Spam attacks have increased so we're going to have to tighten things like bitrate limits , which will mean more inadvertent throttling of active people (false positives)," Mosseri said on Threads. "If you get caught by these protections, let us know."

Throughput limits are what Elon Musk put in place in early July "to deal with the extreme levels of data fetching and system manipulation At the time, Musk said the rate limits were only temporary at extreme levels, but since then he's relaxed and allowed users to see more tweets per day, especially Twitter Blue subscribed and "verified" users.

After viewing limits were implemented on Twitter, a backlash ensued and Meta took the opportunity to launch its competing platform, we now known as Threads. Within a week, Threads had over 100 million registered users on the platform, clearly demonstrating that people were looking for an alternative to Twitter.

Threads makes it easy for users to sign up because all you need is an Instagram account. Usernames are transferred and subscribers are alerted when someone has activated their Threads profile.

Despite display limits on Threads users, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg says "very optimistic about how the Threads community is coming together."

"Initial growth was off the charts, but more importantly, tens of millions are now coming back every day. That's way ahead of what we expected," Zuckerberg said on Monday, July 17.

He continued, "The goal for the rest of the year is to improve the basics and retention. It will take time to stabilize, but once we get there, we'll focus on growing the community. We've run this playbook many times (FB, IG, Stories, Reels, etc.) and I'm confident that Threads is also on the right track.
