The development comes five days after the former governor of Lagos State was announced the winner of the controversial February 25 presidential poll.

Tinubu garnered 8,794,726 votes to defeat his closest rivals, Atiku Abubakar of the People's Democratic Party and Labor Party flag bearer Peter Obi, who obtained 6,984,520 and 6 respectively. 101,533 votes.

Tinubu was received at the airport by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; Chief of Staff, Tayo Ayinde; former Deputy Governor of Lagos, Femi Pedro; Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; former Lagos environment commissioner Muiz Banire and female state leader Jumoke Okoya-Thomas.

This was revealed in a statement issued on Sunday by the president-elect's media adviser, Tunde Rahman.

Rahman said that shortly after arriving, the delegation proceeded to the Iga-Iduganran Palace of the Oba of Lagos, Rilwanu Akiolu, where the monarch and traditional bonnet rulers were waiting white.

Addressing the modest crowd gathered inside the palace, TInubu reassured the Nigerians that he would not disappoint them.

According to him, he would work diligently for Nigeria from the start and would not disappoint the people.

While thanking God and the people for his eventual victory, he likened the primaries and elections he went through to a World Cup tournament, which is tricky and unpredictable.< /p>

Reacting to his return home, Akiolu described the president-elect as a special breed "who is destined for leadership at the highest level".

At the gathering were also the monarch of the kingdom of Ikate-Elegushi, Oba Saheed Elegushi, and Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal.

Meanwhile, a non-denominational organization, Christian Conscience Group, has urged the president-elect to address the plight of Nigerians as soon as he is sworn in.

The group listed security, basic infrastructure, food and youth employment as areas Tinubu needs to address.

This was in a statement titled "Be a Father of All, Asiwaju Group Duties" and signed by National Publicity Secretary Tunji Oguntuase.

"Don't be a victorious president, but form an inclusive government where Nigerians will have a sense of belonging," he added.
