Trevor Noah will do a weekly podcast on Spotify

Trevor Noah is getting into podcasting.

Former Daily Show host has teamed up with Spotify to a weekly podcast that will see him "blend his trademark humor and sharp wit with his global perspective to deliver a unique take on the hottest and most gripping topics of the moment."

Launching later this year, the as yet untitled weekly show will feature in-depth conversations between Noah and " some of the most influential and interesting people in the world," according to Spotify, which has established podcast partnerships with the likes of Louis Theroux and Alex Cooper.

The news was just revealed during a conversation between Noah and Spotify CEO Daniel Ek, during the Cannes Lions advertising market in France. This comes months after South African comedian Noah left Comedy Central's The Daily Show after seven years in December 2022.

"Spotify is the ultimate audio destination, and in partnership with Trevor Noah, one of the brightest and distinctive voices, will create captivating storytelling that will delight our more than 100 million podcast listeners around the world," said Julie McNamara, Vice President of Spotify and Head of Global Podcast Studios.

Noah broke into South African television and radio and moved to the United States in 2011, becoming the first South African Comic to appear on The Tonight Show a year later. He has appeared on several other shows since and has also written a bestseller, Born a Crime: Stories from a South African Childhood.

Noah was featured on podcasts before including archetypes of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Archewell and Spotify. Their new podcast was unveiled just days after Spotify ended their $20 million relationship with the royal duo, with Spotify's head of podcast innovation and monetization calling them "grifters" after they made just 12 audio episodes under the multi-year deal. /p>

"Spotify and Archewell Audio have mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we've made together,” the couple’s Spotify and Archewell Audio said Thursday in a joint statement.
