Two dead in crash on Lagos-Abeokuta highway

Two people were confirmed dead while four others were injured in an accident involving a Nissan Cabster and a Mack truck at Iyana Egbado, Itori on the Lagos-Abeokuta highway on Saturday.

Ahmed Umar, the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Sector Commander in Ogun, confirmed the incident to Abeokuta reporters.

Mr. Umar noted that the accident happened at 6:00 a.m. and involved a Cabster marked KTU 142 XH and a truck registered T-12736 LA.

The sector commander explained that the Nissan vehicle hit the stationary truck which had a flat tire.

He added that a total of seven men were involved in the crash, four of whom were injured, two died while one person was uninjured.

Mr. Umar said the deceased and injured victims were taken to Ifo General Hospital for proper attention.

The sector commander sympathized with the families of the accident victims and urged them to contact the FRSC Itori command for more information on the accident.

He advised motorists to avoid parking vehicles indiscriminately at the side of the road, adding that "in the event of a breakdown, the appropriate placement of traffic signs should be put in place in order to alert incoming vehicles ."
