She said this during a quarterly two-day dialogue with stakeholders on public procurement, titled “Public Procurement in Ebonyi State – Efforts, Processes, Issues and Challenges”, in Abakaliki, adding that procurement processes in the state were independent of the government. interference in order to ensure the accountability, transparency and efficiency of contracting processes, as stipulated by the board.

The dialogue, hosted by USAID State2State, aimed to address fraud and corruption in the public procurement process.

Betty-Iffy said, "The main challenge facing my office is the network issue, which sometimes prevents bidders and the general public from being on the same page with the Office during bid opening.

"We don't really have a lot of problems, but the only one as I mentioned earlier is a network problem. You know we shop using electronic communications. opening of the bids, we have a networking challenge. You know we always fix the time to allow everyone to join us.

"Regarding this procurement process, you don't even need to know anyone. Governor Umahi has nothing to do with the procurement works, because if you tamper with anything or whoever is in the program, the whole world will see it. That's why the supply is better than the normal supply of assets."

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the Dialogue, the President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, Ebonyi State and Deputy Zone President of the Institute, Ms. Chima Okikechi, called on the Office to engage in aggressive outreach of its activities, diligently keep the public informed of its activities.

"They should engage in aggressive outreach, not only by going on the radio, but also by going to churches, markets and wherever people can be found.

"And according to the executive secretary, they basically have five challenges that border on the network, utility vehicles, executive construction in the civil service, and contractors not being able to use the electronic platform, among others" , she said. .
