The University of Port Harcourt has denied reports that it is recruiting new staff to fill vacancies.

UNIPORT management, in a statement released in Port Harcourt on Sunday, said the publication doing the rounds that it was recruiting was the work of fraudsters.

This was in a statement signed by the institution's public relations officer, Dr. Sam Kpenu.

The statement reads: "The attention of the management of the University of Port Harcourt has been drawn to a post making the rounds on social media that the University is recruiting new staff.< /p>

"Management would like to point out that it has not published any advertorials for any recruitment exercise.

"For the avoidance of doubt, the University has only announced the appointment of the Director of Works and Services, the Director of Procurement as well as the Director of Physical Planning and Development.

"If and when the University needs more staff, the recruitment exercise will be formalized and channeled appropriately through its website @ www.uniport.edu.ng as well as mainstream/conventional media ."

"Members of the public are therefore urged to distance themselves from these fraudulent online infomercials, as this can only be the work of fraudsters who are bent on defrauding unsuspecting members of the public.

"This bogus recruitment exercise has been reported to security agencies.

"Management hopes that the long arm of the law will soon catch up with those involved in this unhealthy practice," the statement added.
