Buying votes: Keyamo welcomes the rejection by the court of the prosecution of the ex-minister

On Thursday, the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council mocked a former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, after a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ruled dismissed the suit he filed asking the court to nullify the primaries that produced APC presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and his People's Democratic Party counterpart Atiku Abubakar.

The ex-minister, who bought the APC presidential form for 100 million naira but got just one vote in the June 8 primary, had accused Tinubu of bribery and incitement of delegates.

Nwajiuba went to court for redress after losing at the APC convention held in June this year.

After a series of adjournments, the case was dismissed by the Federal High Court in Abuja on Thursday.

In his decision, Judge Inyang Ekwo declined jurisdiction because the plaintiffs lacked locus standi to bring an action.

Reacting to the judgment, APC PCC spokesperson Festus Keyamo told The PUNCH he knew from the start that Nwajiuba's case was dead on arrival.< /p>

"There's nothing to celebrate about this. We knew it was a pointless affair from day one. So there's no change of mood on our side There were no cases there before,” he said.

In a separate telephone interview, Tinubu-Shettima Presidential Campaign Council Director of Media and Publicity, Bayo Onanuga, also followed the same path.
