Vice President Osinbajo's mother celebrates her 90th birthday at a worship service in Lagos

In a church service laced with songs, prayers, musical performances and Bible services, Nigerians from all walks of life joined Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and his family in Lagos to celebrate his mother, Mama Olubisi, when she was 90

The Thanksgiving Service held at the Cathedral Church of St. Jude, Ebute-Meta, Lagos on Thursday, which featured the Ministry of Song, a delighted Mama Osinbajo, affectionately nicknamed "Mumisco" by her many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, was in good spirits.

President Muhammadu Buhari, who led the wave of goodwill messages for mom in the event brochure, thanked God for the gift of long life and accomplishments and "for giving the Nigeria the gift of your sister and other illustrious brothers and sisters".< /p>

He also expressed his joy that "the matriarch of the Osinbajo family has deemed it worthy to create the Olubisi Osinbajo foundation, which deals with the welfare of widows and families of clergymen. It is an initiative that I recommend to other gifted people in our society because it has great rewards not only here but also in the Hereafter.”

For his part, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo said that Mama is so exceptional in so many ways, but there are four things he learned from her.

"She simply didn't tolerate lying, even seemingly white or innocuous lies! She also had a problem with excessive display of wealth, and she thought it reflected poor breeding.

“Second, her insistence on proper behavior, politeness and respect for elders. Third, she had always believed that I would be a lawyer. She always resisted any attempt to distract me. gospel and its prayer."

In his sermon at the service, the Bishop of Lagos Mainland Diocese, Akinpelu Johnson, recalled mum and her family's early life at St. Jude's Cathedral, particularly her devotion to serving God.

He emphasized the importance of thanksgiving and obedience to God's will, noting that a birthday celebration is "a time to take stock of one's life."

Praying for mum, Mr Johnson said that even at 90, God would continue to work wonders in her because of her dedication to her work and obedience to her will.

The clergy also stressed the need for obedience and steadfastness among Nigerians, noting that the bane of development in many societies is lack of fear of God and willingness to do God's commandment or established laws governing these companies.
