Waterfall Weekend: My Wild Swimming Adventure in the Brecon Beacons

It was a difficult month for many reasons and I needed a break. First, I think a vacation abroad will be the most practical antidote. But as it came out, a weekend of wild swimming in the Brecon Beacons, South Wales turned into the simplest medicine I wanted. as we checked the weather forecast: lots of gray clouds and massive raindrops.

After settling into our comfortable room in Brecon, we put on our waterproof trousers and walking boots and braved the postmen. A small troop took us to the beginning of the Dragons Back path inside the Black Mountains whose America and downs remind us of the scales of a sleeping dragon. The steady rain cooled off as we climbed the steep, grassy bank, at first trying to avoid the sheep poo, then forgetting about it all. In reality, the weather made the scenery look cinematic, with gaps among the low clouds revealing the next hill like a parting curtain in front of the huge display screen. The air became so pure it felt like it cleaned us of all the sand and dirt of London.
