Why Nigeria Leads the Poverty Index - Imumolen d'Accord

The Presidential candidate of the Accord Party, Professor Christopher Imumolen, has advanced the reasons why Nigeria is among the poorest countries in the world.

He identified the lack of opportunities, youth unemployment and poor education, among others, as factors responsible for the country's poor rating.

The candidate for the presidential agreement made this known during his live broadcast to unveil his electoral master plan, according to a press release published on Monday.

Talking about how he plans to tackle the country's dire economic situation if elected president in February, Imumolen said: "The economic difficulties (in Nigeria) are at their peak and the cause is multifaceted. There are so many reasons why a country will fall into poverty.

"Today, Nigeria is perhaps the world's number one capital of poverty and the main reason is opportunities. Nigerian youths do not have job opportunities. Nigerian youths are not properly educated. We need to reform our education system."

The academic who spoke on the critical areas of the country's economy said that to achieve the desired results, the next president must take an important decision to redress the country's economic situation.

He lamented the abysmal depths to which the country's fortunes had sunk in virtually every area of the economic development index and pledged to effect a sharp turnaround if elected.

“My party, Accord and I are driven by a passion to change the narrative of incompetent leadership that has stunted our growth as a country for decades,” Imumolen said.

“We believe in the Nigerian project and are extremely committed to the vision of seeing the country and its people emerge from scarcity, obscurity and unemployment by providing quality leadership that will restore their confidence and hope,” said he added.
