Why Obi won the presidential election in Lagos - Dele Momodu

A Peoples Democratic Party leader, Dele Momodu, has advanced the reasons why Labor Party presidential candidate Peter Obi won in Lagos State in the presidential election last Saturday, as the state is the stronghold of All Progressives Congress presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.

According to him, Obi won in Lagos because of the preponderance of the Igbo people in the state.

Momodu, who spoke on Channel Television's Sunrise Daily on Thursday, said the ethnic factor worked in Obi's favor as there were enough Igbos in Lagos.

"What happened last Saturday, the main factor was ethnic: the Labor Party was able to take control of the giant APC because of the preponderance of the Igbo people in Lagos. They are everywhere.

"Obi started in the East. He had his base intact. Atiku had his base intact in the North East and North West. The only person who could not hold his base was Bola Tinubu and now you're telling me that a man who couldn't hold his base is the champion of the North?" he asked.

“Last Saturday was another sad day for our country,” said the Director of Strategic Communications for the PDP Presidential Campaign Council.

“A faulty process cannot give rise to a perfect process. The electoral law was not respected. Thus, whoever won last Saturday cannot claim legitimacy. we have now,” Momodu said.
