“Why Tinubu and Sanwo-Olu deserve victory in the 2023 elections”

Khairat Animashaun-Ajiboye, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and founder of Peace Dynamix, Peace and Development Initiative (PD, PDI), recently secured the support of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in an empowerment program organized for the young people of Festac Town, Lagos. In this interview with YETUNDE AYOBAMI OJO, she discusses why Nigerians should support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to become President in 2023, why Sanwo-Olu deserves a second term, women's participation in politics and some activities of her NGO.

Are you satisfied with the current level of women's participation in politics in Nigeria? I am encouraged by the expression of President Muhammadu Buhari through the advocacy of our women leaders and supporters in the legislative and political chain, to bring more women into politics. I applaud and appreciate these movements. I believe that the innate nature of women gives us a natural advantage to be more fair, considerate and less damning in our actions and/or inactions. I will be very proud if we can genuinely get more good women into politics as we enter another transitional election.

Which of the presidential candidates is best positioned to address the multiple challenges facing the nation? I had acted like a lawyer by raising my voice. At this time, I unequivocally support Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, despite what opponents may say, to become the next President of Nigeria. I also support Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to return for a second term in Lagos State. The duo have good hearts and are always ready to give their best. Tinubu, as I have said many times, is not necessarily a perfect human being as good as you and me, but he has more than one thing going for him in this critical state of the country; he can bring us all together. It will break down all religious barriers of leadership aspirations and aim to put round pegs in round holes. He is someone who appreciates the truth and works for it. Let's give him a chance. He has good plans for Nigeria. And in the political arena today, Tinubu's accomplishments are unparalleled.

Your NGO focuses on empowerment and other youth development initiatives. What areas of empowerment would you suggest for Tinubu to collaborate with NGOs if he wins? Three keys are needed to help young Nigerians today; they are reorientation, unlearning and relearning. Government must begin massive orientation through local community leaders, trusted religious leaders and educators, to return to our communities to teach ethics and values while providing mentors in several areas of growth within of the economy and even on an international scale to show that it is possible. Nigeria needs to use older relatives before they are all gone, so that our cultural values do not fade with their generation. This communal cultural upbringing is what has kept many of us grounded. The retraining and training of young people are necessary. Vocational studies and online programs that can enhance their abilities and make them realize the good they are capable of are essential. We can send volunteer educators, who can also go to communities to teach small traders how they can be more productive. On the other hand, we must strive to encourage and support good behaviors and correct bad ones in a genuine and fair way. This will motivate the younger ones to understand the importance of doing the right thing.

How does your NGO provide lives in society? Positive Dynamix, Peace and Development Initiative was created in 2015 to create a more equal society to encourage girls' education, to promote peace, well-being and security in our environment and among young people, to educate young people about the dangers of drug addiction and promote moral and ethical values in society. We also work to ensure equitable development for rural dwellers and the urban poor, especially women and children.

Other areas of focus are equipping young people with simple employable skills so that they are job creators rather than job seekers, so that they can also lead responsible lives. These and others were the aspirations of Positive Dynamix, Peace and Development Initiative (PD, PDI) which also gave me the opportunity to register a sister organization in the United States. We have been able to help grassroots people like farmers, men and women, identify the best seedlings for their planting seasons, giving them the resources to help grow their businesses across the supply chain. agricultural products until they are profitable. We have been able to restore hope in our localities by creating sub-teams to focus on business creation and business support. We identify those who need to develop their current activities and encourage them.
