Wike slams PDP critics, brags about 'bringing down APC structures'

River State Governor Nyesom Wike has urged his critics in the People's Democratic Party (PDP) to focus on the 2023 elections and not attack him.

Wike said so during the commissioning of the Ogbunabali sand area in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

The Governor of Rivers State, who was defeated by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the PDP presidential primary in May, said he was aware of the value he had in as a politician.

“Wherever a real Rivers man is, you have to show that you matter, you have to show that you have something to offer and not houseboy, we don't belong in the houseboys; we're not known to be that,” Wike said.

"So, all of you, continue to show that you are not a second-class citizen in any state or any area," he added.

Wike said he was on a mission to bring down the structures of the All Progressives Congress (APC) with his performance as governor.

The Governor of Rivers State has met in recent weeks with APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu and Peter Obi of the Labor Party. Although he didn't mention a name, Wike said most politicians are overrated by their followers.

"Some of you, the ones you review, you won't even buy them for one naira. When the time comes, I'll tell you who they are; the kind of characters we're talking about - people will be talking about here today' today, and tomorrow they'll say something else. I'm starting to wonder is it that chief who spoke to me last night? It's very unfortunate," Wike said.

"Wike and his team are busy here bringing down all APC structures, bringing the dividends of democracy. In your own state, you only talk about Wike."

He urged former Kaduna State Governor Ahmed Makarfi to focus on winning the election for the PDP rather than attacking him personally.

"I don't know when we last spoke. I haven't spoken to him in five months. So if you're politically close to someone, there's no way you haven't spoken to the person,” Wike said.

"What I want to advise Makarfi is look, you have a job, make sure PDP wins Kaduna State. Get out of Wike. Make sure PDP wins in Kaduna State. from Kaduna, I don't want to hear any excuses."
