New Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova has revealed she bet her coach that she would get a tattoo if she won at SW19 this year.

Speaking after her straight-set victory over Ons Jabeur, Vondrouva paid tribute to the Tunisian and reflected on the emotional win.

"I don't really know what's going on at the moment," she told the BBC. "It's an amazing feeling. Congratulations, you are such an inspiration to us all. Hope you win one day, you are an amazing person. Congratulations to the team.

"After everything I've been through, I had a cast last time, it's amazing that I can stay here and hold this. Tennis is crazy.

"I don't know how I did it. Comebacks are not easy, you never know what to expect. I was hoping to be able to return to this level and now I'm here.

"I want to thank my box, you are all amazing, my little sister is crying up there. It's amazing, tomorrow is our first wedding anniversary. It's amazing that you are here with me. I enjoyed these two weeks so much. It was exhausting but I'm so grateful and proud of myself.

"I made a bet with my coach. He said if I won a Grand Slam, he would win one too. So I think we'll go tomorrow!

"I think maybe I'll drink some beer. It's been a grueling two weeks, and I've been getting in shape the last few days. I was so nervous before this game. Thank you so much guys for the support and come here."
