In the meantime, October 5 is celebrated as World Teachers' Day around the world. It is observed to express gratitude for teachers' contributions to the development of society.

While paying tribute to teachers in the state and in Nigeria at large for their immeasurable contributions and sacrifices to the development of society, the Governor reiterated that his administration will continue to take all measures that will promote their welfare, their development and empowerment.< /p>

He described teachers as pillars on which children, as future leaders, draw inspiration while growing up.

The Governor described the theme for World Teachers' Day 2022, "Educational Transformation Begins with Teachers," as appropriate and timely given the transformative and critical role they play in the development of the learner potential.

He noted that while the work of educating, nurturing and shaping the lives of children can be difficult, teaching remains one of the most honorable jobs in the world.

Inuwa Yahaya said that over the past three and a half years, his administration has put in place the necessary infrastructure and facilities, including modern materials, to encourage performance and productivity at all levels. levels.

According to him, "Since we declared a state of emergency, there have been various interventions. We have gone from the state of total collapse encountered in 2019 which had prompted us to declare a state of 'emergency in the education sector to a state of great competitiveness'.

He also said that “From a secondary school certificate pass rate of 26% in 2019, students in Gombe State recorded a pass rate of 87% in 2021.”< /p>

He further said that his administration has strengthened partnerships with relevant agencies and organizations with the aim of repositioning the education sector and improving the ability of teachers to achieve peak performance.

The Governor listed some of the achievements recorded by his administration in the education sector, including "The construction and renovation of over 1,200 classrooms in various schools across the state, the modernization of 5 schools Legacy secondary schools into mega schools capable of accommodating up to 15,000 students with special facilities, cleaning up over 400,000 out-of-school children through BESDA and recruiting 1,000 teachers through the teachers to address the human resource gap in the education sector”.

He commended teachers for their tireless efforts to impart knowledge and shape the future of pupils and students despite obvious challenges.

While commending the leadership of the Gombe State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) and all teachers in the state, Governor Inuwa also commended them for instilling good values ​​and wisdom, as well as for playing a very important role in the life of every student.
