That's according to award-winning chef Paul Leonard, who runs the star-studded Forest Side restaurant in the Lake District , Cumbria.

Speaking to MailOnline Travel, the Hull-born chef explains: "I'm a firm believer that cooking is cooking. You can't reinventing the wheel with. I think you'll find some of the best meals you have are the simplest.'

That said, it then reveals a way simple to make a classic chicken pot pie - the ultimate comfort food.

Leonard, who has run the Forest Side since 2019, says that when he prepares the dish at home, he roasts a whole chicken, then takes all the meat from the bird once it comes out of the oven.
