According to the Daily Mail, Pratt is currently in a panic over his Hollywood career as his latest film, “Mercy,” continues to garner negative reviews and a poor box office showing since its theatrical release this month.

“Chris is freaking out. Period,” a source told the outlet of the 46-year-old star. “It’s the first time he’s really felt his age in Hollywood, and it shook him.”

Prior to “Mercy,” Pratt had starred in a number of hit franchises that were expected to do well. Now, without that support, he realizes he may not be as invincible as he once thought.

“He always thought he had another decade of rock-solid stardom,” another source shared of Pratt’s dilemma. “Now he looks around and realizes the coins aren’t coming in like they used to.”

The situation, according to a third source, led the actor to become “obsessed with box office numbers and Rotten Tomatoes scores.”

“It’s classic mid-life crisis behavior in this city,” the source added of the actor.

Pratt’s dilemma first emerged last week in a report by journalist Rob Shuter #ShutterScoopright after “Mercy” was released in theaters for only a few days.

At the time, a source claimed that Pratt was in disbelief at the film’s underperformance and was “spiraling.”

“Chris really didn’t see this coming,” the source said of the film’s box office showings and mixed reviews.

They added: “He thought his name alone could open a movie. Now? He’s spiraling.”

Other sources also shared similar sentiments, saying that Pratt was grappling with the possibility that outside of his hit franchises, he was just an ordinary actor who could be replaced in an instant.

“This is the first time Chris has felt…replaceable, and it’s terrifying,” another source said.

“Mercy” may not succeed in recouping its budget at the cinema

During its first week in theaters, Mercy earned approximately $11.2 million domestically in its opening weekend, according to Deadline.

While this figure was enough to place the film in the top five in its first week, it dropped out of the rankings the following week due to stiff competition from Sam Raimi’s “Send Help” and YouTuber Markiplier’s “Iron Lung”.

According to Colliderthe film earned approximately $5 million in its second weekend, which is less than half of its initial run.

It also brought the film’s domestic total to just under $20 million after 10 days, despite the star power of Pratt and Rebecca Ferguson, known for her appearances in three installments of the film. “Mission: Impossible” franchise.

Given its weak performance, the film is now expected to struggle to reach the $30 million mark at the box office, which could be short-lived after dropping out of the top five so quickly.
