Stone’s change in look has become a hot topic online, with many fans admitting they are intrigued by what seems different about her appearance. As one social media user put it, she “looks so different,” but it’s hard to pinpoint exactly why.
Speculation first intensified during Paris Fashion Week last year, when photos of the “Bugonia” star alongside BLACKPINK’s Lisa began circulating.
Some commenters described Stone as a more glamorous version of herself, while others compared her features to the aesthetic of a Bratz doll.
The conversation picked up again at the Screen Actors Guild Awards (now known as the Actor Awards), where the 37-year-old wore a purple Louis Vuitton dress paired with a matching cardigan, styled her hair in a sleek updo and chose soft, warm-toned makeup.

Experts weigh in on Emma Stone’s changing appearance

As the conversation heated up, several cosmetic professionals publicly offered their opinions on Stone’s “new face.”

Emma Stone reflects on body image and urges kindness

Meanwhile, at the BAFTAs earlier this year, talk of Stone revolved around her slender figure, with some fans pointing to visible collarbones and sunken cheeks, as well as her slim figure, as signs of being underweight.
However, the “La La Land” actress has previously opened up about her complicated relationship with body image, saying she feels “disgusted” by her appearance.
In a 2012 interview with S Magazineshe admitted to experiencing moments of insecurity, recalling times when she felt self-conscious about her diet or her appearance. The actress stressed that such feelings are common and part of being human.
In 2014, Stone said Seventeen magazine that maintaining her weight can be a challenge for her, especially during times of stress and as she gets older.
She attributed this to genetics and encouraged people to be “kinder” rather than judging others based on their appearances.
“No matter what things look like on the outside,” she said, “we can all be extremely critical of ourselves and our image in the mirror.”

Emma Stone reveals why she changed her name before becoming famous

Amid this renewed attention, Stone also recently shared a lesser-known detail about her career. Although she has spent more than two decades in Hollywood, “Emma Stone” is not the name she was born with.
The actress, nominated at the Screen Actors Guild Awards presented by SAG-AFTRA on March 1 for her role in a Yorgos Lanthimos film, revealed that her real name is Emily Stone.
However, when she applied for her SAG card at age 16, she discovered the name was already taken and had to choose a stage name.
During an October 2025 appearance on “The Late Show” with Stephen Colbert, the actress explained that her first stage name wasn’t “Emma” at all. “I actually adopted a stage name for six months,” she said. “I was 16 and decided I wanted to be Riley. For about six months, I was Riley Stone.”
But this choice did not last long. While guest starring on “Malcolm in the Middle,” the Frankie Muniz-led sitcom, she quickly realized the name didn’t seem natural to her.
“They kept going, ‘Riley, Riley!’ and I had no idea who they were talking to. Really,” she recalls.
The confusion made her reconsider her decision. “So I was like, ‘I can’t be Riley.’ It came out of nowhere,” she joked. Ultimately, she chose “Emma,” a name that seemed close enough to Emily to sound authentic.
