Sarah Michelle Gellar Says Hulu Exec Killed ‘Buffy’ Reboot

Sarah Michelle Gellar says a suit pulled the plug on the ‘Buffy’ reboot.

The ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ star previously announced that Hulu was abort reboot from the beloved TV show and now she’s explaining more about the decision, which left fans angry.

Sarah told People in an interview published Monday, “We had an executive on our show who not only wasn’t a fan of the original, but who took pride in constantly reminding us that he had never seen the entire series and that it wasn’t for him.”

She added: “So it shows you the uphill battle we’ve been fighting since day one, when your executive is literally proud to tell you they didn’t watch it.”

Sarah said the only reason she was trying to revive “Buffy” was to please the fans… “We were doing it because everyone loves it. So how do you make a show that’s loved by someone who doesn’t love it?”

She did not name the Hulu executive.

Sarah says she received a phone call with the bad news last week, just before she took the stage at SXSW to plug her new movie. Phew.
