In the middle of a recent episode of “Nightcap,” Sharpe told Johnson that he felt bad for their friend, NBA star “Iso” Joe Johnson, who was sitting alone on the court during a game.
Sharpe explained that he was disappointed because Johnson had to be at the game with him; however, the former Bengals star opted out at the last minute.
As the episode continued, Johnson told Sharpe that he couldn’t attend the game because his family had decided to do something for his daughter’s birthday earlier than planned. Apparently angered by his peer’s comment, Johnson took out his cell phone and said he would call his child’s mother to explain.
“See, there you go,” said Sharpe. “Why are you trying to involve anyone else in this?” He continued: “See Ocho, there’s no need to argue. Ocho knows… all his kids’ birthdays. He knows that if he’s out of town, he’s going to contact the mother and say, ‘We need to move this forward because I’m going to be out of town.'”
Johnson fired back, explaining that if his child’s mother needed him to move things for her children, he would always find a way.
“But Ocho, you made plans!” Sharpe exclaimed.

The situation changed when Johnson sat back in his chair and said, “Yes, uncle, I don’t care about the fucking plans if my kid’s birthday is here.”
Sharpe insisted that Johnson should have cleared things up with their friend, to which Johnson responded: “I already talked to Joe, what are you talking about?”
“Now you’re done annoying me about my g-dd-mn child, it’s his birthday!” Johnson fumed.
The explosive exchange lasted for some time before the two men left, but the unexpected outburst caught the attention of many viewers.

In early 2025, Sharpre was named in a $50 million lawsuit filed by Gabrielle Zuniga. Zuniga accused Sharpe of assaulting her on numerous occasions and even released threatening audio recordings containing a voice similar to Sharpe’s.
Sharpe settled the lawsuit months later, and although the amount remained secret, Zuniga shared a Bible verse shortly after the settlement was announced.
