Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 Episode 4 debuted on Disney+ – and its final scene will have major repercussions on its remaining episodes.
Titled “Gloves Off,” the latest entry in the Marvel TV show culminates in a high-stakes showdown involving Daredevil, Bullseye and the Fisks at a charity boxing event. And, given that it ends with the potential death of a major character, things might never be the same for Matt Murdock and company.

What happens in the finale of episode 4 of season 2 of Daredevil: Born Again?
As you know, the Disney+ show is moving towards a charity boxing match involving New York’s autocratic mayor Wilson Fisk. This has been teased since the second episode of this season, which showed Fisk, aka Kingpin, training with his trainer in preparation for the fight.
Fast forward to Daredevil: Born Againthe latest episode of , and we learn that Fisk not only doesn’t want his wife Vanessa sitting at ringside; he doesn’t want her there at all.
The reason? Spot on. Real name Benjamin Pointdexter, the sociopathic vigilante has been attacking the Fisk since they forced him to kill Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born Againthe premiere of season 1. It was Vanessa who trained in his line of sight too, after Born again Season 1 Episode 8 revealed that she was responsible for Foggy’s hit.
Wanting revenge for tricking him into murdering Foggy, Bullseye has attempted to murder Vanessa before, with that failed attempt taking place in the penultimate chapter of last season. Now, with the likelihood that she’ll be watching her husband in the next fight, Bullseye has another opportunity to carry out his self-proclaimed mission to kill her.
This brings us to the final minutes of “Gloves Off.” Against her husband’s wishes, Vanessa shows up at the charity event. Shortly after, Bullseye also arrives on the scene, sends the Anti-Vigilant Task Force (AVTF) guards on duty, and heads straight for Vanessa.
In the ensuing chaos, Bullseye tosses Vanessa a small glass bust resembling Wilson Fisk memorabilia, which is for sale at the event, which Wilson adorns with the title belt he just won.
At the same time, Pointdexter is shot by another AVTF gunman. However, as Wilson Fisk prepares to put Bullseye down for good with a bullet from his own gun, Daredevil comes to the rescue. Disarming Fisk with a well-placed baton throw, Murdock’s masked alter-ego catches the injured Pointdexter and the pair jump out the front window of the room to escape.
A furious Wilson Fisk watches, but his anger soon turns to horror. Hearing “…Wilson?” » pronounced weakly by Vanessa, he turns around to see that a shard of broken glass from the deviated bust has lodged in Vanessa’s right temple. As blood drains from the wound, a panicked Wilson rushes to her as she collapses. Cue Fisk screaming for a doctor before the screen fades to black.
Will Vanessa Fisk die in Daredevil: Born Again season 2 episode 5?
You might think so. Suffering any type of head trauma is a cause for great concern, but Vanessa’s means her chances of survival in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) don’t look good.
The likelihood of her living beyond the next episode drops significantly when you also take into account comments from Wilson Fisk actor Vincent D’Onofrio. Indeed, just after this season’s premiere, D’Onofrio seemed to spoil that Vanessa would die in Born Again 2 on a recent episode of the series’ official podcast.
Now, it’s plausible that D’Onofrio was referring to someone else when he said, “So Fisk’s concern is that the public thinks – might think – that he’s concerned about his death.” It’s also possible that, with the best medical minds at Wilson Fisk’s disposal, Vanessa could live to fight another day.
Other comments from D’Onofrio, however, indicate she won’t.
Speaking to IGN in March 2025, he revealed that he “had to cry a little bit” over the scripts for the second season of the Marvel TV show Phase 6. What could elicit such an emotional reaction from someone who has played the same character for over a decade as the disappearance of this individual’s lover? And, if she dies, what impact will that have on Fisk’s relentless crackdown not only on vigilantes and their supporters, but also on his iron-fisted rule over New York City?
Certainly, I have seen all eight episodes of Daredevil: Born Again season 2, so I know the outcome of this particular plot thread. Don’t worry, I won’t say anything else. You’ll just have to tune into one of the world’s best streaming services next week to find out what’s happening.
