Eva Longoria It lacks some details about the United States, but its heart remains in Europe!
The sensational actress revealed in November 2024 that she and her family had left the country to split their time between Mexico and Spain.
Although this revelation coincided with Donald Trump’s return to power, Eva Longoria has repeatedly denied having fled the country for political reasons. Instead, there were several reasons behind his family’s move.
Eva Longoria opens up about missing the US after returning for new project

In a new interview, Longoria discussed returning to the United States for the film “The Fifth Wheel,” her second project as a director. She explained that her family’s return to Los Angeles made her nostalgic for two reasons:
“I miss my family, my Texas family…. [and] good Mexican food. That’s what I miss. This is what you don’t find in Europe, it’s good Mexican cuisine.
Longoria, who welcomed son Santiago with husband José Bastón, told PEOPLE that living in Los Angeles has been a fun experience for her child. “He loved it. He was so excited to have classmates and friends and birthday parties,” she said of the boy, who enrolled at the school for the first time last year.
TV personality’s family could return to Spain

Although Longoria noted that her son flourished during his time in Los Angeles, his heart remains in Spain. She explained that their extended family was in Mexico and Spain and they enjoyed being surrounded by their loved ones rather than apart.
“I also think he’s happiest when he’s with family. So I think we take it day by day, year by year,” Longoria said. She added that Santiago wasn’t the only one who loved Spain, as she also enjoyed her time away from the United States.
One of the best aspects of living in Spain for Longoria was the country’s lunch culture. “I don’t miss the working lunch… You always do the working lunch: ‘I’m going to go get a sandwich. I’ll be right back,'” she joked, noting that the Spanish liked to have long, unhurried meals.
‘Desperate Housewives’ Star’s Move Wasn’t a Radical Decision

Another reason Longoria loved life in Spain was the lack of traffic. She explained that the area where her family lived in the countryside was closed to traffic, so she walked frequently. Longoria first revealed his ties to Mexico and Spain in November 2014 during an interview.
In her cover story for Marie Claire’s “Age Issue,” Longoria shared that her family split their time between Spain and Mexico in recent years before eventually moving to Spain. She explained that the reasons for their absence from the country were due to change.
According to Longoria, she noticed the changes in Los Angeles before the pandemic worsened the city’s mood. “Whether it’s homelessness or taxes, it’s not that I want to shit on California, I just feel like that chapter of my life is over now,” she said.
The United States seemed like a ‘dystopian country’ to the Hollywood veteran

Longoria noted that she was lucky, unlike most Americans, to be able to escape “this dystopian country.” She said she was saddened by Trump’s return to power, saying that if he kept his promises, “[America] It’s going to be a scary place.
Although Longoria actively campaigned for Kamala Harris and ended Trump’s re-election efforts, she did not move because he won the election. She cleared the air days after her cover story was published, during a call to The View: Behind the Table podcast.
During the November 15, 2024 episode, Longoria told her friend Ana Navarro that she “didn’t leave because of the political environment.” She explained that her work also took her to Europe, and she found reports speculating that she fled the country because of Trump to be very “divisive.”
Eva Longoria once bragged about the perks of being a mom in her 40s

A year after revealing her family’s move to Europe, Longoria has opened up about life as a mother. The Blast covered the story in November 2025, reporting that the actress had claimed that having a child at 43 was the “perfect time” for her.
Longoria explained that she has more knowledge and patience for being a mom in her 40s. After spending forty years focusing on herself, she felt “blessed” to have a child later in life. On that note, she prioritized her family over work.
According to Longoria, she would never accept roles or projects that would take her far from home. If she said yes to something that interfered with her family time, then it must have been something she really loved and people she really wanted to work with.
