A quieter week for releases will give some games a better chance to get noticed. It also highlights the diversity of the offer, even in the midst of the debate on how “in crisis” the industry is right now. At one end of the spectrum is Ovenan unconventional competitive pottery game from Psychonauts manufacturer Double Fine. At the other end is Tracya Sega Genesis RPG almost lost in time.
In Ovenwhich benefits from the full processing of the live service, including a 2026 roadmapplayers make ceramic creatures to carry into battle and carry water to put out the opposing team’s fire. The creative phase simulates real wheel spinning, while the combat phase is where all the chaos happens. It’s one of those rare games that everyone in my family can play together. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, there is no local cooperative.
Tracyon the other hand, is a re-release of a 1992 Genesis game from Telenet Japan that features knights, wizards, and turn-based battles with grid-based combat mechanics. “[It] ” wrote one critic at a time. Well, now it’s back, and I’m too curious not to try it.
