It’s Alien Day, and this year Creative Assembly and Sega have a special gift for Xenoheads everywhere: a new teasing for the next Extraterrestrial: Isolation 2.
The brief video, titled “False Sense of Security” on YouTube, offers a new insight into the game’s disturbing world. A dark, creaky room opens to reveal a dilapidated, rain-soaked alien base, followed by a cut to the iconic emergency phone booth that serves as a save station throughout the game. Extraterrestrial: isolation. While that’s not a ton to do, it does suggest that the sequel could take place in a city-like area – potentially an off-world colony – rather than a space station.
It’s been almost 12 years since the beloved survival horror game Extraterrestrial: isolation received generally positive reviews before later becoming a cult favorite among fans of sci-fi survival horror. Based on the Stranger film franchises, Isolation takes place 15 years after the events of the original 1979 film. Creative Assembly’s game is widely considered the best Stranger video game adaptation.
The sequel to the game was the first announcement in October 2024, on the occasion of the 10th anniversary of Isolationthe launch. It is developed in Unreal Engine 5, according to recent job offers.
“Today, I am delighted to confirm, on behalf of the team, that a sequel to Extraterrestrial: isolation is in early development,” creative director Al Hope said in 2024. “We look forward to sharing more details with you when we are ready. Once again, thank you.”
Although the new teaser doesn’t mention a release date, which platforms the game will be available on, or even the title of the sequel (Extraterrestrial: Isolation 2? Extraterrestrial: company?), we hope these details will be revealed in the near future. Meanwhile, the original game only costs $8 as part of the Day of the Aliens Steam sale for the remainder of the franchise.
