The layoffs are part of the company’s Back to Starbucks turnaround strategy Coffee giant Starbucks The U.S. government is cutting approximately 300 U.S. support positions and closing some regional support offices.
“We are taking further steps as part of the Back to Starbucks strategy, building on our strong business momentum and working to return the company to sustainable, profitable growth,” a Starbucks spokesperson said in a statement to FOX Business.

“Leaders took a hard look at their respective functions to better focus, prioritize work, reduce complexity and reduce costs. As a result, we are eliminating approximately 300 support positions in the United States. roles”said the spokesperson.

“We are also reviewing our international support organization as we strive to be a world-class licensor and anticipate additional impacts outside of the United States,” the spokesperson noted.
The company is also closing some regional support offices.

Costs have been rising at Starbucks in recent quarters as CEO Brian Niccol pursues a Back to Starbucks turnaround strategy focused on the coffee floor, which has resulted in heavy investments in additional barista staff. Executives last month touted what they called a significant milestone in the turnaround as the company reported its strongest sales growth in more than two years, although operating profit margins have fallen by nearly half since the turnaround began in late 2024.

It also announced that it would reduce the carrying value of certain real estate assets by $280 million, primarily related to its reserves and roasters, as well as certain non-business support facilities.
