Born into one of Hollywood’s most famous families, North has spent almost her entire life in the spotlight. Today, as the daughter of Kim Kardashian and Ye (formerly Kanye West) is approaching her 13th birthday, insiders say the reality mogul is quietly grooming his daughter to capitalize on her famous last name, while trying to maintain some balance behind the scenes.
The North West has been in the spotlight since childhood
Long before most kids worried about homework or sleepovers, North was already attending fashion shows, posing for magazines and attracting the attention of the paparazzi. Fans may remember one of North’s first viral moments when, as a little girl, she firmly told photographers, “I said no photos!”
Growing up in the Kardashian-West spotlight, privacy was never really an option. Before she was two, North reportedly had lunch with Anna Wintour, sat front row at New York Fashion Week, appeared in Vogue, modeled for CR Fashion Book and made her television debut on “Keeping Up with the Kardashians.”
By the age of four, she had already appeared on magazine covers, performed at Ye’s Paris Fashion Week show at six, and then performed in the “Lion King” concert at age 10.
Kim Kardashian would prepare her children to be “self-sufficient”
According to a source who spoke to the Daily Mail, Kardashian is realistic about the reality of raising children in one of entertainment’s most famous families. “Kim would actually prefer if her kids weren’t in the spotlight as much, but she knows that’s not realistic,” a close source said. “That’s why she prepares them all to be financially independent and exploit their baby nepo status.”
Kardashian has also been candid about becoming North’s unofficial “mom,” admitting that the role came much sooner than expected. “She doesn’t do anything without me being there all the time,” Kardashian said during an episode of “The Kardashians.” “I have to be his mom right now, it’s crazy. North’s growing career would get more serious by the day. In January, Kardashian reportedly filed a federal trademark application for NOR11, an upcoming lifestyle brand tied to North.
The file would include categories of bags, clothing, shoes, jewelry and cosmetics. “Kim knows North is going to be a star, so the brands come in handy,” a close source said. “This is his way of beating anyone who hopes to cash in on his fame by trademarking his name for hunting.”
North has also previously branched out into music. The soon-to-be teen recently released her six-track debut EP, “N0rth4evr,” and has reportedly launched merchandise related to the project, including clothing and accessories. According to insiders, the advance from the project was “well over seven figures” and would be placed in a trust that she can access later as an adult.
Kim Kardashian and Ye reportedly trust a key person for North’s career
As North’s star continues to rise, insiders say Kardashian and Ye are selective about who helps guide her growing career. North has reportedly signed with Gamma, the music and media company founded by former Apple executive Larry Jackson.
The company has reportedly worked with stars including Fantasia, Leona Lewis and Lana Del Rey, while also supporting celebrity kids like Willow And Jaden Smith. “Larry is good friends with Kim and Kanye, so they trust him to support North’s career,” a close source said. “He’s one of the few people Kim and Kanye trust, so he helps North come up with ideas.”
