Nearly 90 drones fell into the waters of Sydney’s Darling Harbor on Monday during a light festival.
The malfunction was due to “unforeseen technical difficulties”, according to the organizers of Vivid Sydney, an annual three-week festival that features large light installations.
Two upcoming air shows have now been canceled.
A Vivid Sydney spokesperson apologized for the “disappointment and inconvenience caused to attendees” and said drone operators had canceled the show “in line with standard safety protocols”.
